Nature, environment and water transport

Know your local nature
In the Nature, environment and water transport subject area, you will learn about nature and environmental issues and discover different ways to enjoy the local nature. Most of the nature-related teaching is carried out in short courses or courses lasting one semester.
In courses related to hiking, backpacking and other nature activities, you will learn tips on how to move around in nature and how to equip yourself properly. You will also learn to observe nature. In gardening courses, you will learn the seasonal tasks involved in maintaining a garden or allotment. In floristry courses, we practice handling flowers and making various bouquets and decorations. We also offer seasonal lectures on various nature topics and natural science phenomena.
Water transport courses provide basic knowledge for safe navigation on inland waters and in the archipelago. The adult education centre organises courses in archipelago and coastal navigation as well as astronomical navigation. There are also advanced short courses available in navigation electronics, for example. The courses prepare students for the voluntary examinations organised twice a year by Suomen Navigaatioliitto, the Finnish navigation association. See the Finnish navigation association’s website (in Finnish) for more information on course materials, exam dates, and past exam questions.
My feedback is nothing but praise! The activities and environment are top quality, and information is easy to find on the website. All in all, excellent work!
